Ellie’s Great War features Eleanor Foerster, a bright and irreverent fourteen-year-old, who takes her first step into adulthood on the day she learns that America has entered the Great War against Germany. Ellie’s Great War looks through her eyes at the impact of World War I and its aftermath on her upstate New York hometown. The war, the Great Influenza, and the postwar Red Scare inflict pain and loss on her, her family, and her friends, but through the ordeal Ellie develops a vision for her own future.
